Operating funds are vital to the success of most organizations and 4-H is no exception. However, since 4-H is a nonprofit, governmental agency, stringent guidelines should be followed when planning a 4-H club fund-raising activity. Each fund raiser must have a purpose (paying club expenses, supporting community projects, supplementing the cost of 4-H events, etc.) and be approved by 4-H Agent. Also, the fundraiser must provide the donor with concrete goods or a service. Some examples of acceptable fund raisers are garage sales, craft sales, dog washes, recycling collections, or putting on a variety show or play. After the fundraiser, the club leader must submit a final report to the 4-H office.
