Why are there age divisions in 4-H?

The age regulations in 4-H are designed to give the youth involved in 4-H events and activities the optimum experience in their respective programs. It is important to be aware of the various age requirements for participation in each event and activity.

The age divisions for Florida 4-H are:

Cloverbud – 5-7 years old as of September 1 of the current 4-H year

Junior – 8-10 years old as of September 1 of the current 4-H year

Intermediate – 11-13 years old as of September 1 of the current 4-H year

Senior – 14-18 years old as of September 1 of the current 4-H year
