Why was the Green Local Government designation created?

The Green Local Government designation was created to help Florida’s local governments to create and enforce landscape codes that help preserve Florida natural ecosystems, conserve water, create pedestrian-friendly environments, and follow green policies throughout their own organization. The designation encourages governments to adopt more sustainable practices and rewards the local governments for the successful integration of green policies and procedures.
