I get lots of citrus blooms, but they fall off without setting fruit. Why

A citrus tree must be planted 3-4 years before it becomes mature enough to produce quality fruit. It may flower prolifically, but will drop most of its blooms. Even a mature citrus sets only a very small amount of its blossoms (less than 10%). The resources below list some of the problem with dooryard citrus.
