Yes! Beyond basic orientation and six hour training program with the 4-H agent, there are several training opportunities available to volunteers. First there are materials on the state 4-H website at http://florida4h.org/volunteers/ . Here you can find out lots of information from starting and maintaining clubs, to understanding 4-H culture and volunteer job descriptions.
Next is the state wide Florida 4-H Volunteer Forum. One weekend a year, the Florida 4-H Volunteer Association hosts a weekend training for club leaders and volunteers from across the state. They meet at one of the four 4-H camps and attend workshops on everything from how to improve your club to the brain development of teenagers.
Finally, the Southern Region Leaders Forum is held the first full weekend of October at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center near Eatonton, GA. This state learning conference allows participants to choose from over 100 educational workshops to obtain ideas and resources for positive youth development. You can also enjoy motivational speakers, entertainment, and making new friends from across the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean islands.
