Patronizing local markets is great for the local economy, ensures freshness, and is often more affordable than big supermarket chains.
We are lucky in Pinellas County to have a Farmer’s market open every day of the week. Saturdays from November to April you can visit Heritage Village for Market in the Park From October to May there is a Green Market at Al Lang Field on Saturdays. If you are in Dunedin on Friday you can find the Dunedin Green Market in Pioneer Park from October to April. The City of Clearwater has picked Wednesday for its market. So if you’re going to be near Cleveland from October to May you can stock up. Finally, if you are going to be in mid county on Thursday from November to May stop by the City of Largo’s Ulmer park for the Harvest Market Place. Can’t make it to the market? Just grab the phone book and look under Produce-Retail for a list of small produce stands dotted throughout the county.
Before you hit the Farmer’s Market visit Florida-Agriculture.com and learn about seasonal availability of Florida crops and other agricultural products. From seafood to sprouts to wine you can support Florida agriculture and our local economy in a very tasty way.
