I understand that a child can join 4-H if they are 5 by September 1 of the current 4-H year. My child’s birthday is September 2nd. Can’t you make an exception?

As much as we would like to make an exception for your child, we will not. 4-H activities are not age appropriate for children under the age of five and the insurance will not cover children who are under five years old as of September 1. We are sorry that your child will have to wait a year but this policy is to benefit all youth that join 4-H. Attached is a page from the 4-H handbook showing youth characteristics and how volunteers can work with them.
