What does a 4-H Club do?

A 4-H club is a group of at least 5 youth from 2 different families that meet at least 2 times per month. During those meetings the youth will elect select officers, hold business meetings, participate in educational programs, and experience a recreational activity.

The business meeting of the club is run by the youth with the leader’s assistance. The youth plan club activities and make club decisions using parliamentary procedure. The educational portion of the meeting can be led by the leader, a parent, a community member, or even the youth themselves. It will be a hands on activity based in the club’s project area(s). Finally, the youth will have a recreation period. This could be an organized game or just time to talk together and have a snack.

Every 4-H club participates in community service activities. They may plan field trips throughout the year to support their projects or just to have fun.
