What is Horsemanship School?

Horsemanship School, also known as Horse Camp, is a five day educational program sponsored by the University of Florida Animal Sciences Extension Office. In 2010 two weeks were offered and this may vary from year to year, based on available resources. The school will offer both English and Western disciplines. Horsemanship School takes place in the Welaka State Forest at its equine facility. The school is open to 4-H members from 11-18 years old. Participants must be able to care for their horse during this week including being able to saddle their own horse. This is a rigorous week and both the horse and the 4-H member should be conditioned for a full, educational and fun week.

The cost for Horsemanship School is in the area of $320, although this is subject to change.
